2022 G20 Bali Summit
The G20 is a multilateral forum bringing together 19 of the world’s major economies and the European Union (EU). Its members account for more than 60% of the world population, 75% of global trade and more than 80% of world GDP. The members include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.
The 2022 G20 Bali Summit is the upcoming seventeenth meeting of Group Of 20 (G20), the summit scheduled to take place in Bali, Indonesia , in 2022. Indonesia’s president The baton for the G20 Presidency will be officially handed over by the Italian PM to President Joko Widodo on 30-31 October 2021, in Rome. This momentum is the first time that Indonesia has become the G20 Presidency, since this forum was formed in 1999.
The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the Indonesian government will carry out the G20 Presidency by optimizing the benefits for the Indonesian people, in the fields of economy, social development and politics.
“This is an important momentum to show Indonesia’s leadership and also to make Indonesia a role model for economic recovery in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said in a virtual press conference Towards the G20 Indonesia 2022 Presidency, in Jakarta, Tuesday.
The government estimates that from the economic aspect, several direct benefits that can be achieved if the meeting is held physically are an increase in domestic consumption to Rp1.7 trillion, an increase in national GDP to Rp7.4 trillion, the involvement of MSMEs and employment of around 33 thousand in various sectors.
“With around 150 meetings for a full year, in aggregate the Government estimates that the economic benefits that may arise from the implementation of the series of activities of the Indonesian G20 Presidency can reach 1.5 to 2 times greater than the implementation of the 2018 IMF-WBG Annual Meetings in Bali,” said Coordinating Minister Airlangga .
Handover ceremony of the presidency was held in intimate handling-over of the G20 Presidency Gavel from Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo at the closing of Rome summit.
