With the rise of Covid-19 cases when Limited “Face-to-Face” Learning was implemented, a system was needed to regulate student mobility during school hours to reduce crowds. Based on WHO (World Health Organization) information, the Covid-19 virus is very easy to spread. WHO requires the world community to wear masks and avoid crowds. Therefore, SMA Negeri 1 Singaraja participates in implementing WHO recommendations by implementing a returning home system.
This system’s implementation begins with providing information through an intercom that all students can hear. Before going home, students must clean and ensure the classroom is tidy. Then students are invited to go to their respective homes, starting from 12th grade, then 11th grade, and ending by 10th grade. That’s why this system is referred to as “Returning Home System”. 12th grade takes precedence over 11th grade because their vehicle parking arrangement is more organized, so when they return home, mobilization is faster and can save time. The 10th grade went home last because for their safety, when the 12th and 11th grade came home, there was no vehicle so they could go home safely.
The primary purpose of this returning home system is to reduce crowds, but this system also provides other benefits.
Preventing Density of Mobility in the School Gate Area
Going home from school is something every student looks forward to the most. The number of students at SMA Negeri 1 Singaraja approximately reaches a thousand. If all students are sent home simultaneously, the school gates will be filled with crowds of students, causing traffic jams and the risk of accidents.
Building Student Character
This returning system requires students to wait. It can train students’ patience, discipline, and respect among students.
The impatience of students while waiting for their turn to go home became an obstacle for the guard officers. However, it can redirect by cleaning activities in the classroom. Students are also allowed to request a song at the intercom that does not contain SARA. With that, students can wait while listening to music from the intercom. Strict security from DPS, OSIS, KAMTIB, and SATGAS became the main pillar. This guard is usually carried out at the exit of each building. We do not know whether the student’s reasoning is valid.
So, this system is effective for all students of SMA Negeri 1 Singaraja. During the implementation, it was proven that there were no accidents during the time. The possibility of a traffic jam can be reduced by the mechanism of this system, 12th grade goes first, then followed by 11th grade and the last is 10th grade. So, 12th grade can easily go home without the mobility of vehicles from 11th grade, and 11th grade’s pedestrians, as well as for 11th and 10th grade, can easily go home without the mobility vehicles from 12th grade. Besides that, with this system, the police, security, and SATGAS will easier manage the trafficafter school.
